I’m committed to working with all of us to improve the quality of life in Surrey Heath, and I’m determined to ensure that our local economy continues to grow, providing good jobs for local people.
Local businesses
We’ve many great local shops and businesses, and it’s important for us all to give them the support, trade and encouragement they need to thrive. That’s why I regularly visit local businesses and why I founded my Business Breakfast Club in 2006, which meets four times a year, strengthening ties with local businesses. I’ve also been helping Conservative councillors to improve local amenities and important shopping areas, such as those in Old Dean and Heatherside, as well as supporting their brilliant work to maximise the potential of Camberley Town Centre.
I’ve also introduced new laws, working with local County Councillor for Camberley East, Trefor Hogg, to enable us to ensure empty shops are brought back into community use. You can read more about this here.
Community action: Surrey Heath has many brilliant volunteers who give up their time to support their local communities. I want to continue to champion the fantastic work that is being done by local people through initiatives, such as the Free Community Breakfast and the Free Food Stall at St Martin’s Church in Old Dean.
