The Camberley Society has a new website www.thecamberleysociety.org.uk and their key campaign is to improve Camberley's rail services. They have now set up an e-petition, and this can be accessed via their new website or directly at http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/68458
Michael Gove MP is very supportive of the Camberley Society’s campaign for an improved railway service, in particular the restoration of the Camberley-Woking rail link. He wrote earlier this year to the Transport Secretary to promote the case for its restoration.
Typical off-peak journey times from Camberley to London Waterloo using the Camberley-Woking link would be about 50 minutes, compared with the current 68 minutes via Ascot, or 66 minutes via Ash Vale.
Michael said:
‘I believe that the revival of the Camberley-Woking rail link would provide a mighty boost for Camberley’s efforts to persuade new businesses to move in and create jobs. It would result in faster journey times and better connection to the main line for South-West journeys, and lead to a marked reduction in traffic between Camberley and Farnborough Main railway station.’
