Concerns were raised about the living conditions at Keogh Barracks and lack of adequate heating. On 9 March, Michael wrote to the Secretary of State for Defence, the Rt. Hon. Gavin Williamson CBE MP, to bring this to his attention.
On 16 April, Michael received a response from the Defence Secretary, informing him that the heating system will receive a £1.5 million update by 2019. Meanwhile, temporary boilers will be used as a substitute.
The Defence Secretary also reports, ‘accommodation charges have been refunded during the periods of no or sub-optimal heating and hot water provision.’
Michael said:
‘I am delighted to see this problem is being addressed, and I look forward to visiting the Barracks in the near future.’
