The Met Office has just upgraded its alert for Monday and Tuesday to red for parts of southern and central England with temperatures set to hit a sweltering 40°C.
Surrey County Council has published guidance on how people can stay safe and cool in the heat, including by staying hydrated, keeping out of the sun between 11am and 3pm, and wearing sun cream.
The Council is also advising people to be mindful of pets at this time, as they often find it more difficult to cope with high temperatures.
Please also keep an eye on elderly neighbours during the heatwave, as older people are more at risk from heatstroke and other health conditions linked to extreme temperatures.
