Michael Gove, MP for Surrey Heath, is delighted to announce that the winners of his 2023 Christmas Card Competition are:
• Group 1: Tadhg, in Year 1 at Coworth Flexlands School in Chobham -Christmas Tree
• Group 2: Sasha, in Year 3 at Hall Grove School in Bagshot – Christmas scene with snowman and soldier
In early October, Michael wrote to all the Primary Schools in Surrey Heath, inviting them to submit entries for this year’s competition. On this occasion, he asked the Mayor of Surrey Heath, Councillor Pat Tedder, to take up the challenging task of choosing two winning designs from an amazing collection of inventive and colourful creations.
Entries were received from schools in Camberley, Deepcut, Chobham and Bagshot, and they were divided into two groups: Group 1 for pupils in Reception to Year 2; and Group 2 for pupils in Year 3 to Year 6. After the competition closed on 22 November, the entries were sent off to the Mayor. All the artwork was of a very high standard, making judging particularly challenging, but after much deliberation, the Mayor chose the designs by Tadhg and Sasha. Their artwork will now appear on Michael’s Christmas cards.
Michael was delighted to visit Hall Grove School in Bagshot last Friday (8 December) to present the Group 2 winner, Sasha, with a certificate and a Parliament-themed prize.
He hopes to visit Coworth Flexlands School early in the New Year to present the Group 1 winner, Tadhg, with his certificate and prize.
All the runners up will receive certificates as well.
Michael commented:
“I hugely enjoy holding my annual Christmas Card Competition, as it is always a great delight to see the wonderful designs from talented pupils across Surrey Heath.
