Yesterday, Michael Gove, MP for Surrey Heath, attended the official opening of the new Community Library at the Pavilion in Old Dean. He joined the celebration with local councillors, Lewis Mears, Shaun Garrett, and Trefor Hogg, and Surrey Heath Mayor, Cllr Pat Tedder, had the honour of cutting the ribbon.
The Pavilion was previously in state of disrepair, but has now been transformed into a community library, thanks to the hard work of volunteers with donations and funding from Surrey Heath Borough Council, Frimley Fuel Allotments, ODCOG, Accent, SCC Libraries, Bagshot Library, Crawley Ridge Infant School, Howdens kitchens, Fluently Flooring, Angolds Carpets and Ringway.
Commenting after, Michael said:
I was delighted to be at the official opening of the Community Library at the Pavilion in Old Dean this afternoon with Cllrs Lewis Mears, Shaun Garrett, and Trefor Hogg.
It was wonderful to see how this building has been transformed into such a welcoming place for families in Old Dean to enjoy. I would like to say a huge thank you to the brilliant team who made this happen, and for all the generous donations given by businesses, local schools and so many others.
