Michael Gove, MP for Surrey Heath, has welcomed news that train companies have listened to feedback and have extended the time available to respond to the consultation on station change proposals by an extra five and a half weeks to give as many people a chance to take part as possible.
The consultations are happening as part of an industry-wide set of proposals, which include potential changes to the way tickets are sold and customer service is provided.
The changes would mean the closure of all ticket offices in Surrey Heath, and Michael urges constituents with any concerns to respond to the consultation to ensure their voices are heard.
The consultation, which was due to close on 26 July, will now close on 1 September.

Michael Gove commented:
‘I have received some correspondence from constituents who have understandable concerns about the changes which have been proposed. In a recent meeting with South Western Railway’s Managing Director, Claire Mann, she made it clear that SWR will listen very carefully to issues raised by customers in the consultation, and I have separately formally responded to the consultation to relay the particular concerns which have been raised with me directly by constituents.
‘I am delighted the consultation has now been extended, giving my constituent more time to respond, and I do urge any one who has concerns about the proposals to submit their views as soon as possible to ensure their voices are heard.’
