Daniel Sykes, the Cyber Crime Unit Protect and Prepare Officer at Surrey and Sussex Police, has contacted Michael regarding the offer of free Cyber Security training to any small business, community group, charity, education facility or other group that would benefit.
Cyber Crime costs the UK Economy around £27 Billion annually. This consists of:
- £21 Billion lost from businesses
- £2.2 Billion lost from Government organisations
- £3.1 Billion lost from individuals
Last year, 39% of Small Businesses suffered a Cyber Attack.
The presentation is titled "Cyber Security for Humans - Easy Tips to stay safe in a Digital World", and it is designed to be accessible and not needlessly technical.
Training can take place in the form of an online event via MS Teams for small audiences, but in-person events can be arranged for audiences larger than 25. If the audience is vulnerable or uncomfortable with using technology, then it can be in person, regardless of event size.
The presentation is about 1-hour long, and it includes a 10-minute Question and Answer session. It covers everything organisations and individuals need to know to reduce their chance of becoming a victim.
Daniel has delivered presentations to thousands of people and from the Police feedback surveys, 80% stated they would very likely change their behaviour as a result of the training to reduce their chance of becoming a victim.
An older and pre-recorded version of the training from October can be found here.
Daniel also has a presentation prepared to help businesses achieve Cyber Essentials Certification, which is government-backed and increasingly expected by customers and clients.
As previously mentioned, this is a completely free public service. Cyber Security Training in the private sector can cost over £1000.
