Michael Gove, MP for Surrey Heath, has joined Prime Minister David Cameron in calling on start-up businesses and entrepreneurs in Surrey Heath to get involved in this year’s Conservative Party Start-up Hub and win the opportunity to showcase their work in front of thousands of visitors at the Conservative Party Conference in Birmingham.
Launched last year, the national competition is a chance for 12 new businesses to demonstrate their ideas or designs during the four day conference running from Sunday, October 7th to Wednesday, October 10th.
In order to win a chance to appear at the Start-Up Hub, ideas must be submitted to the Conservative Party before June 30th. Application forms are available from www.conservatives.com/startuphub. The winners will be chosen by a panel of experts, chaired by Damian Collins MP, and including leading business representatives from Fujitsu.
Launching the competition, Prime Minister David Cameron, said:
“2012 is going to be a great year for Britain. With the Olympics and Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, Britain’s business talent is on display to the world and I want to make 2012 the year we go for it.
“I want to encourage businesses to create and innovate; to invest and grow; to develop and break boundaries. That is why I’m proud that the Conservative Party is once again showcasing the best of British business and innovation at our Conference through the Start-UP Hub, and I encourage start ups and entrepreneurs across the UK to get involved.”
Michael added:
“This is a unique opportunity for budding entrepreneurs here in Surrey Heath and I would encourage anyone with a brilliant new idea to enter the competition for a chance to show off their work to thousands of delegates, the nation’s media and business leaders from across the country.”
