On 14 February, Michael Gove, MP for Surrey Heath, attended the Mayor of Surrey Heath’s Valentine’s Day Lunch at the Officers’ Mess at the Princess Royal Barracks in Deepcut.
The Mayor, Cllr Beverley Harding, held her Lunch in aid of the Lisa May Foundation, which supports selected local charities in Surrey, Hampshire and Berkshire, as well as raising funds for victims of natural disasters throughout the world. Cllr John May, former Mayor of Surrey Heath, founded the charity after he lost his daughter, Lisa, in the Boxing Day tsunami that devastated Thailand in 2004.
The Mayor’s Valentine’s Day Lunch was a sell-out success and raised a fantastic £1,255, which the Foundation will share with a handful of deserving charities it supports: the Surrey Young Carers, Parity for Disability and The Prostate Project.
Michael said:
“I was absolutely delighted to have been invited to speak at the Mayor’s Valentine’s Day Lunch. I thoroughly enjoyed the occasion, and I am thrilled that the event has raised so much money for the wonderful Lisa May Foundation.”
